Watermark award

Is your school looking for a grant to create a wildlife pond? Do you want to start an environmental project? Why not think about applying for a Wessex Watermark award?

Cam Valley Watermark

Our environmental grant scheme has been running for almost 20 years.

It helps all kinds of organisations to apply for financial help when carrying out projects throughout our region.

So if you’re representing a school, parish council or community organisation and you have an environmental project in mind you could apply for grants of up to £1,500 towards it.

And every three months a special project receives the Wessex Watermark gold award worth £2,500.

All the applications are considered by a panel of experts chaired by botanist, television presenter and Conservation Foundation co-founder David Bellamy.

Our leaflet has more information including an application form or please call 01225 526327 for more information.

Sustainable Watermark awards

This year the Watermark award scheme celebrates its 20th anniversary. To celebrate a special award has been launched. The Sustainable Watermarks will run until March 2014 and there will be £10,000 to give away to groups across the region.

The awards will be marked under a separate criteria to the Watermark awards. To qualify for the new awards applicants need to prove that they are working on community projects across Wessex Water's region and are saving water in community halls, schools or other community buildings, by doing at least one of the following:

  • installing water saving devices

  • harvesting rainwater

  • recycling grey water - wastewater generated from activities such as washing and bathing

  • promoting water saving behaviour through drama or art work

  • creating a dry garden, which is not reliant on water in order to thrive

  • using any technical innovation that can demonstrate water saving or recycling benefits
