Final business plan 2010 - 2015
Every five years water companies are required to submit to the water regulator, Ofwat, business plans that reflect the funding necessary to operate the business and to undertake new investment.
Wessex Water has submitted a business plan that delivers £950 million worth of investment focussing on what matters most to customers while at the same time keeping bills low.
The investment proposed for 2010 to 2015 will improve and develop the water and sewerage infrastructure in the region and help meet stringent environmental requirements.
While we are planning a large number of schemes to improve services and the environment, we have chosen to defer some requirements as these would have driven prices considerably further above inflation at a time when we are all facing a challenging economic climate.
The business plan we have submitted maintains high levels of service and quality at a cost customers consider both affordable and reasonable.
It includes schemes to:
- improve security of supply through building an integrated water supply grid which will provide greater flexibility for how we distribute water around our region.
- make a further reduction in leakage
- reduce the number of properties at risk of sewer flooding.
Wessex Water consulted with its customers throughout the development of the company’s business plan which is built around customer priorities and the requirement to incorporate certain environmental improvements.
It is now up to the industry regulator, Ofwat, to determine price limits for the next five years based around Wessex Water’s intentions set out in the business plan for 2010 to 2015.
