The Royal flush

‘Don’t flush it, bin it’ was our message at this year’s Bath and West Show.

Bath and West 2012

To engage customers, visitors to our stand were able to play the Bag it and Bin it game, which is free to download from itunes.

The game, which tests your waste disposal skills, educates customers about why they should be thinking twice before flushing items such as wet wipes and cotton buds down the toilet.

“While everyone enjoyed playing the game, there was a serious message behind it,” said sewerage controller Steve Martinez, who was at the event.

“Our sewerage crews unblock thousands of sewers a year and in the vast majority of cases these blockages occur because people flush items such as wet wipes down the toilet. We were able to raise awareness of the problem at the show.”

Hundreds of children, of all ages, enjoyed playing the game. Adults also joined in for a chance to get their hands on the prize of £50 which was available for the highest scoring player each day.
