Wootton Courtenay mains replacement

New water mains are being laid between Timberscombe and Wootton Courtenay in Somerset.

The work is being carried out to replace ageing pipes that were laid in the 1950s and 1960s and have reached the end of their life.

Almost 3,000 metres (9,840ft) of water mains are being replaced as part of the half a million pound scheme which will improve security of supply for people living between the two villages.

Important travel information

Sections of the narrow road between Timberscombe and Wootton Courtenay will be closed while the essential work takes place.

Wootton Courtenay traffic information

We have contacted people who live in the area to advise them of the rolling road closure and have been working closely with Wootton Courtenay parish council.

The work will start on 26 June and take around five months to complete.

Once complete it will reduce the likelihood of a pipe bursting and residents being left without water.
