Operation Clean and Clear Taunton

Water works completed ahead of schedule

We’ve completed our water quality improvement work in Taunton.

Almost 50,000m of ageing water mains have been modernised as part of the £16m scheme, known as Operation Clean and Clear, which took just over two years to complete.

Thousands of customers will benefit from the work, which involved ageing iron water mains either replaced or relined, to improve water quality and reduce the likelihood of water discolouration which some people experienced in recent years.

Innovative techniques were used while engineers worked in 180 roads, which involved around 400,000 man hours.

The cooperation and support of local people throughout the scheme has allowed us to work as efficiently as possible, helping to minimise the disruption caused.

We would like to thank the local community for their patience during the project.
