Our laboratory

Timely and accurate analysis of drinking water and effluent samples is an important part of our remit to protect public health.

Having our own scientific centre which provides sampling, analytical results and scientific expertise means water quality issues can be picked up quickly, helping protect customer supplies.

Our scientific centre continues to extend the service it provides at some sites to include same day or rapid turn around analysis for nitrate and pesticide sampling.

These results are reported by e-mail and phone log to our operation centre. This helps ensure nitrates and pesticides are detected quickly at these sites enabling appropriate action to be taken.

Unusual results, such as high turbidity, coliform failures and high aluminium, also continue to be reported to our water supply scientists.
