Wessex Water sustainability policy

Wessex Water aims to be a truly sustainable water company. Our sustainability vision describes the outcomes that will show that we have achieved this, plus the ways of working that need to be in place.

In summary, a sustainable Wessex Water would feature the following: 

  • the protection or improvement of all the resources and services provided by the environment, that are used or affected by our operations 
  • work environments that positively contributes to the health, skills, knowledge, and motivation of all our employees 
  • excellent customer services and relationships with all stakeholders that responsible, clear and co-operative, plus governance and policies that lead to sustainability 
  • materials not being used in ways that human health or the environment could be damaged 
  • a robust balance sheet and long-term stable relationships with investors that share the company’s commitment to sustainability.

To achieve these outcomes Wessex Water will work towards being a sustainable water company in a number of ways, including:

  • adopting the working practices and systems that are needed for progress to be made
  • embedding sustainability into our business management and operations
  • working with our employees and outside interests – customers, our shareholder and investors, regulators and government, contractors and suppliers, interest groups – to make sustainability a central part of day-to-day work
  • setting clear sustainability targets
  • monitoring and reporting on our progress.
