Bogus callers

Knock, knock! Who’s there? Be stranger aware!

Bogus callers

At least 35 bogus caller crimes are committed every day in the UK.

And more than half are by people pretending to be from a water company.

If a Wessex Water employee needs to enter a customer’s home, they must always show an identity card.

This includes a photograph of the cardholder, their name and signature.

As a further precaution we operate a personal password system.

You can register your own password with us – our staff will use it should they need to visit you.

If you think someone is not a real Wessex Water employee, contact the police immediately.

We also have a Doorstep Code which reminds people what to do before opening their door to a stranger.
