Apply for a water meter
It is a good idea to carry out a 'health check' on your plumbing system for obvious signs of water wastage that may, once you switch to a water meter, make your usage higher than you expected. Check things like cistern overflows, dripping taps, header tanks etc. If you find any problems you should correct the causes before you apply for a water meter.
Before applying, you can work out the cost of being on a metered bill
Before you get started you will need
• Your address • Customer number * |

Step 1: Enter your personal details Step 2: Enter your availability for installation Step 3: Review your details before final submission |
This form should only be completed if you receive your water supply from Wessex Water.
If your water is supplied by Bristol Water, please submit an application on their website.

If the meter is for a property you are building or for an existing property you are dividing into flats or separate units, then you will require a new water supply connection.
* This can be found on your bill - see our leaflet for joint customers and Wessex Water only customers.
What happens next?
We will install your meter within 30 working days of receiving your completed application form.
Before installing the meter, we will survey your property to check it is possible to fit a meter and to identify where it should be fitted.
We aim where possible to carry out the survey and fit the meter on the same day, but we may need to make more than one visit.
Normally we try to fit the meter as near to the property boundary as possible. Sometimes this may be just outside the boundary in the pavement. If this is not possible at your premises we will discuss the location with you before proceeding with any installation.
Once we have fitted the meter we will normally provide you with a card telling you when and where the meter was fitted. We will then make any necessary adjustments to your account. If we fail to install your meter within 30 working days of receiving your application, we will stop your unmetered charges at the end of that period and start your metered bill from the date we fit the meter. This does not apply if the installation has been delayed at your request or that of a third party.
