Things to do

Christchurch water recycling centre is a fascinating place to visit if you want to find out more about what happens to the dirty water we put down our plugholes and flush down our toilets!

Discover how we collect wastewater from a population of about 70,000 people in the Christchurch area and follow the wastewater on its journey through the recycling centre as it goes from being brown and smelly to clean and safe, ready to be released back into the environment.

A highlight of your visit will be using our powerful microscope to see the range of microorganisms we use to clean waste.
