Mineral, spring and bottled waters
Between 1993 and 2008 the UK bottled water market (including water coolers) has grown from just 580 million litres to 2.06 billion litres and as a nation we now drink more bottled water than fruit juices/nectars, wine or spirits. In 2008 we consumed 1.598 billion litres sourced and bottled in the UK.
Bottled waters must comply with the European Parliament Directives 80/777/EEC, 96/70/EC, and Natural Mineral Water, Spring Water and Bottled Drinking Water Regulations 2003 and subsequent amendments.
These laws detail specific and stringent regulations that enable consumers to be aware of exactly what product they are buying. Bottled waters are regulated by the Food Standards Agency.
We offer a comprehensive microbiological (including cryptosporidium), general chemical, metals, organic chemistry and nutrients analytical service to the bottled water industry including the sterility testing of caps and re-use bottles.
