Wessex Water’s water conservation campaign aims to encourage customers to wise up to water and make simple changes in their daily lives to help save this precious resource.
Every person in every household now uses on average 150 litres of water every day – that’s 70% more than 30 years ago!
Water conservation is a year round responsibility for everyone, and just as important during times of heavy rainfall as it is in drought.
The campaign focuses on three main areas where we all use water most – in the bathroom, the kitchen and the garden.

Did you know that:
• in the bathroom, you can save up to 45 litres of water every time you take a shower instead of a bath?
• in the kitchen you could save up to five litres a time by rinsing dishes in a bowl, rather than under running water?
• in the garden, you could save hundreds of litres by using a water butt – sprinklers use up to 500 litres of water an hour!
This summer, Wessex Water is also taking to the road with its water conservation message, through its summer roadshows. Part of this focuses on the impact flushing away waste like cotton buds, and sanitary towels has on our sewers. Find out more about our bag it and bin it campaign.
