The early careers adviser made starting a new job, in a new place really easy. They created a thought-out plan, with all the training we required, while still being very flexible for us to shape the experience based on our own interests.
Benefits of a placement
If you are successful in joining us for an industrial placement, we want to make sure you get the best out of the experience.
After all we will be together for only a year!
You will join an exemplary technical team and will be introduced to the business along with other students on an industrial placement.
You can expect lots of hard work and copious amounts of health and safety training as well as great team building activities too.
Most of our industrial placement programmes are supported by a detailed training plan outlining learning and development opportunities during the year.
You may work with a dedicated ‘buddy’ - a mentor who will be on hand to answer any questions you have.
And during your placement you will be supported by our early careers adviser who will also regularly check in with you that your time with us is going as well as you had hoped, if not better!
Beyond the placement
Depending on your placement programme and the commitment and competence you demonstrate during the year, there may be a future for you at Wessex Water.
Following successful placements we have offered students:
- part-time paid work to complement final year study
- conversion to degree apprenticeship which involves continuing university studies, paid work and a structured approach to developing skills and behaviours
- full-time employment
- chartership support and guidance.
