Work experience

Work experience

To give students an insight into the inner workings of a water and sewerage company, we offer a unique week-long work experience programme.

Whether you’re interested in electrical engineering, construction design, water pollution or IT, our work experience programme should have something to suit you.

We offer work experience opportunities across our entire region and aim to provide experiences as local to you as possible. You need treat work experience just as though you were going to a normal job and therefore you will be responsible for getting yourself for work, being on time and asking any questions to enable you to do the job.

The three work experience pathways available include:

  • engineering and construction
  • corporate business
  • science and the environment.

Depending on the pathway you select, your week will involve working across five different departments that fall within your chosen pathway.

This enables you to gain a valuable insight into a variety of specific roles rather than just one.

Our work experience programme is open to people aged 14 years old and upwards.

This work experience programme is only suitable for placements from one to five days. It is not designed to cover long-term placements that support college courses or T Levels.

What are the benefits?

Taking part in the work experience programme offers a number of benefits including:

  • an exciting, in-depth view of the water industry
  • securing a place at our apprenticeship assessment centres
  • recognition within the business
  • a certificate illustrating your achievement and experiences
  • support from a next steps mentor.
