New playground for Chippenham school
Children at Redland Primary School in Chippenham are enjoying a new playground, which has been upgraded by Wessex Water after nearby work.
With the old playground located directly on the route of a new sewer pipe, work was carried out during the school holidays to minimise disruption.
Once installation was complete, Wessex Water staff reinstated the playground markings and replaced old play equipment that needed to be removed.
Project manager Andy Roberts said: “We’d like to thank everyone at Redland Primary School for their patience and co-operation.
“Given the location of these works, it was very important that we worked closely with the local community to explain the planned work, timescales and likely disruption.
“We liaised with the school, local residents, the local bus company and Wiltshire Council. We also visited a local care home where we delivered a short presentation to the residents and staff before their Thursday morning bingo session!”
Redland Primary School headteacher Veronika Joy said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the new playground.
“The children are really enjoying the increased space, and the new activities and equipment. What a fantastic addition to the school.
“Our thanks go to the Wessex Water team who have made this happen.”
