Look out for overwintering birds

Adjoining the Quantocks Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and designated as a County Wildlife Site, Hawkridge reservoir provides a valuable habitat for insects, amphibians and wildfowl. Overwintering birds and areas of broadleaved woodland and marshy grassland around the reservoir are of particular interest.

Due to the size of the reservoir and lack of bank space, no walking or dogs are permitted around the site. However, there are a number of public footpaths which link to the reservoir. The reservoir and its birdlife can be viewed from both the layby on Lawyers Hill and one of the nearby public footpaths.
