Our education advisers

Our team of education advisers work with thousands of students and hundreds of primary and secondary schools every year. Our education service is available free to all schools within the Wessex Water area.

Visiting schools or welcoming students to our education centres are our team of four advisers:

Sue Community Educator

Education adviser

Our longest serving education adviser, Sue launched the service in 1998 and developed it to what it is today. She joined Wessex Water as a press officer before launching the education service. Sue started by setting up our Ashford education centre and making it accessible for schools and members of the public to visit. Weston-super-Mare followed in 1999 and all our other education centres shortly after - it was quite a busy few years for Sue! She has a love and passion for her work as well as the outdoors.

Gillian, Community Educator

Education adviser

Getting out and about to visit schools, colleges and nurseries and organising tours at our water treatment works and water recycling centres (sewage treatment works) is what Gillian enjoys about her role as an education adviser. A teacher in Wiltshire schools for 15 years, Gillian became an education adviser in 2012 to cover Bath and Wiltshire. Before becoming a teacher Gillian worked for Wessex Water, compiling date on Blue Flag beaches. Like many employees, she returned to Wessex Water!

I particularly enjoy leading tours at our water recycling centres - all our visitors alight from the coach with fingers holding their noses and by the time they leave, they do not notice any smells! One child asked, "Do you do children's parties here?" Obviously, he had enjoyed himself!

Meghan Community Educator

Education adviser

With a keen passion for taking learning outside the classroom, Meghan's specialist subjects are geography and history. Formerly a teacher in London and Bath, she has helped schools to get their Green flag awards and has also led eco-clubs - both of which she has been able to continue to do during her role at Wessex Water. She joined the company in 2018 as an education adviser covering the Dorset and South Wiltshire areas.

Education adviser

Having taught for 30 years in both primary and middle schools, Tim has a wealth of experience both in the classroom and leading residential trips. Having completed a geographical science degree at Portsmouth University, he trained as a teacher in Southampton. In his spare time Tim enjoys exploring new and local places on foot, bike or kayak. Tim is our newest education adviser having joined in 2019 to cover the Dorset and South Wiltshire areas.
