Debt support scheme - Restart

Apply for Restart if you have significant water debt you can't repay.

Who can apply?

This scheme is for you if you:

  • have significant water debt they can't repay
  • can afford your ongoing water bills.

How does it work?

You will have to pay the charges for the current year. We will then reduce your debt by an equivalent amount at the end of the year. If you continue to pay your current charges in year two, we will clear your remaining debt.

To apply for Restart you may need to get free independent advice. You might also need to provide us with details of your income, household bills and any debts or savings you have.

Once we have your application, we'll let you know if you have been accepted within five working days.

If you're waiting for debt advice and need us to put a hold on your account, contact us. We will need to know which organisation you are waiting to see, the date and time, and the adviser's name (if known).

Please continue to pay what you can while you are waiting for help.

What do you need to apply?

To complete this application, you will need:

  • the details of your debt advice agency/adviser
  • your personal details including customer number and National Insurance number
  • details of others in your household including their full date of birth
  • employment details for yourself and others in the household
  • your bank account details including any savings/balances
  • a verified financial budget completed with help from an independent debt advice organisation.
