About the site

Nestled in a small valley within the larger St Catherine’s Valley, Chilcombe Bottom Nature Reserve is a haven for wildlife.

Amongst the limestone grassland, the decommissioned reservoir site consists of footpaths, sunken lanes, streams and ponds.

Permissive paths and rights of way connect the nature reserve with the wider landscape and offer a range of walks, both long and short.

Wildlife

Chilcombe Bottom is a haven for wildlife and a hotspot for invertebrates. Visitors might spot badgers foraging, adders basking in the sun or newts breeding in the tranquil pond.
